The Ultimate FiveM Car Modding Guide
Welcome to the definitive guide for installing and customizing cars on your FiveM server. Whether you're a server owner or a player looking to spice things up, this guide has you covered.
Part 1: Understanding Vehicle Mods
FiveM vehicle mods come in two main flavors: Add-On and Replace. Add-On cars are new vehicles added to the game, while Replace mods change the model of an existing in-game car. At FiveM Stock, all our vehicles are Add-Ons to ensure they don't conflict with the base game.
Part 2: Server-Side Installation (For Server Owners)
Installing cars on your server is the most common method. This makes the vehicle available to all players.
- Download the Vehicle: After purchasing a car from our shop, you'll receive a zip file.
- Extract the File: Unzip the contents. You'll find a folder with a name like 'vm_nero'.
- Upload to Your Server: Using an FTP client or your host's file manager, upload this folder to your server's `resources` directory.
- Edit server.cfg: Open your `server.cfg` file and add a new line: `ensure vm_nero`. The name must match the folder name.
- Restart Your Server: A server restart is required for the new resource to be loaded correctly.
- Spawning the Car: In-game, you can spawn the car using its spawn name (e.g., 'nerocustom') via a trainer or your garage script.
Part 3: Client-Side Installation (For Players)
Client-side installation allows you to see car mods on servers that don't have them installed, but only you will see them. This can sometimes cause issues, so server-side installation is preferred.
This process is more advanced and involves modifying your local GTA V files. We recommend using OpenIV for this. Due to the risk of corrupting game files, we do not provide support for client-side modding.
Always back up your game files before making any modifications. FiveM Stock is not responsible for any damage to your game installation.
